Sensory-First Education Programme (Ages 4–16)

Our Sensory-First Education Programme supports children and young people aged 4–16 to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills through sensory-aware beauty, wellbeing and vocational learning experiences.

Programmes are designed to complement each learner’s core education, with activities delivered around the curriculum at their main education setting. This allows learners to remain engaged with their academic learning while developing practical life skills, confidence and preparation for future transitions.

Each programme is personalised to the learner’s strengths, interests, sensory profile and EHCP outcomes, allowing them to progress at a pace that feels safe, achievable and empowering.

Ages 4–11

Primary-age learners develop sensory awareness, emotional regulation, confidence, communication and self-care through play-based, age-appropriate experiences within calm, structured environments.

Ages 11–16

Secondary-age learners build on self-care, puberty awareness, social understanding, sensory regulation and vocational introduction — preparing for increasing independence and future transitions.

Learners will have opportunities to:

• Build confidence in a safe, structured and sensory-aware environment.
• Develop communication, social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
• Learn to adapt to new people, different communication styles, routines and environments through gradual, supported experiences.
• Build positive relationships with peers, tutors, professionals and clients.

• Learn personal care, hygiene, health, self-care and wellbeing.
• Explore and understand their own sensory profile, recognising what helps them feel calm, regulated and confident.
• Develop strategies to communicate and manage their sensory and emotional needs.
• Improve fine motor skills, coordination, problem-solving and independence.
• Make choices, develop decision-making skills and increase self-confidence.
• Explore age-appropriate beauty, wellbeing and vocational activities in a fun, engaging and inclusive way.
• Apply skills such as literacy, numeracy, communication and problem-solving through meaningful, real-life activities linked to their core curriculum.
• Experience gradual transitions between their main education setting and, where appropriate, accredited Sensory-First Beauty®️ schools, colleges and salons, helping prepare for Post-16 education, supported internships and future employment.

Supporting confident transitions into adulthood, college, employment and independent living.

Sensory-First Beauty®️ equips colleges, schools, education providers, accredited salons and employers with the knowledge, standards and accreditation to deliver safe, inclusive, sensory-aware learning, work placements and employment opportunities.

Working alongside educational programmes, EHCP outcomes and supported internships, our Post-16 programme enables learners to build practical beauty skills, confidence and independence through both educational settings and real accredited salon environments.

Every learner is supported through gradual, meaningful transitions, ensuring every step from education into college, accredited salons and the workplace is adapted to their individual sensory needs, empowering them to thrive with confidence, dignity and independence.

Post-16 Learner-Centred Work Placements

Sensory-First Beauty®️ Post-16 work placements are delivered through accredited Sensory-First Beauty®️ salons and approved education settings, providing meaningful vocational experiences that support learners as they prepare for adulthood, further education and employment.

Every placement is designed around the individual learner. Rather than expecting learners to immediately adapt to unfamiliar workplaces, we introduce new environments, people, routines and responsibilities gradually, allowing confidence, independence and resilience to develop naturally. Learners remain in control of their journey, progressing at a pace that meets their individual needs while working alongside their existing education programme.

Our Post-16 placements provide learners with:

Placements are designed to complement the learner’s existing education programme, ensuring core academic learning remains the priority while practical vocational skills are developed through carefully planned, real-world experiences.

Post-16 Education & Career Pathways

Sensory-First Beauty®️ Accreditation is designed to work alongside existing educational programmes in colleges, independent training providers, SEND departments and alternative provision. It complements the curriculum by combining vocational beauty education with sensory awareness, preparing learners for further education, supported internships and meaningful employment.

Our programme supports learners to develop self-awareness by understanding their own sensory profile, recognising their strengths, preferences and support needs. Through sensory strategies, learners build self-regulation skills to manage emotions, stress and sensory input, helping them feel confident and in control across education, work and everyday life.

Learners gradually build confidence to adapt to different people, routines and environments, with supported transitions from classroom learning into accredited salons, colleges, supported internships and employment. Every transition is introduced at an individual pace, ensuring learners feel safe, prepared and successful.

Alongside vocational beauty and wellbeing skills, learners develop communication, teamwork, professional workplace behaviours, independence and client care. The programme supports every learner to grow in confidence while respecting their individual sensory needs, helping them make successful transitions into adulthood, further education and the workplace.
